Privacy

What we collect, what we don't, and what you can ask us to delete.

A plain-English privacy policy. We try not to store anything we don't need.

Quick summary

Travel2CN is a static editorial website. We don't require accounts, we don't collect personally identifying information, and we use a minimum of analytics and advertising cookies. If you subscribe to our newsletter we collect your email address; if you click an affiliate link, the partner may place a tracking cookie. That's about it.

What we collect

Site analytics

We use privacy-friendly analytics (such as Plausible or Cloudflare Web Analytics) to understand which articles people read, how they got here, and roughly where in the world they are. This data is aggregated and does not personally identify you. We do not use Google Analytics on user-facing pages.

Newsletter signups

If you sign up for the Travel2CN newsletter, we collect your email address (and only your email address) via Buttondown, our newsletter provider. You can unsubscribe with one click from any email we send. We will never share or sell your email.

Affiliate cookies

When you click an affiliate link, the partner site (e.g. Airalo, Klook, Booking.com) may place a cookie on your device to attribute the purchase. We do not see the cookie's contents; we only receive aggregated commission reports. See our disclosure.

What we don't collect

  • We don't require accounts or logins.
  • We don't collect names, addresses, or phone numbers.
  • We don't use Facebook Pixel, Google Ads conversion pixels, or third-party retargeting.
  • We don't sell or share any data we collect with anyone.

Cookies

Travel2CN sets minimal first-party cookies required for the site to function. Third-party cookies are set only when you click an affiliate link. You can clear cookies at any time in your browser settings.

Your rights

If you're in the EU, UK, California, or another jurisdiction with privacy laws, you have the right to request access, correction, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you. The simplest case: if you want to remove your email from our newsletter list, just hit unsubscribe at the bottom of any newsletter email — done.

For anything else, email us via the contact page and we'll respond within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy meaningfully, we'll mention it in the newsletter and bump the date at the top of this page. The full version history of this page is available in our public repository.
